Emissions of Opacity |
| Opacity is an indirect measurement of particulate emissions. Michigan DEQ regulates opacity and requires continuous monitoring of opacity and reporting of any deviations from the limit. |

Fugitive Dust Concerns |
| Fugitive dust is easily blown around material that is not emitted from a point source such as a stack. The biggest sources of potential fugitive dust for the power plant include the unloading and transportation of raw material fuels to the power plant as well as the trucking of ash away from the power plant area. Fugitive dust is regulated in Michigan and the area near the existing power plant is currently considered a “problem area” by DEQ. |

Emissions of Odor |
| Odorous compounds are regulated by Michigan DEQ. There will not be any emissions of objectionable odorous compounds from the proposed power plant. |

|
Ash Disposal |
| The combustion of solid fuels in the proposed power plant will generate ash that will require removal and disposal. Currently, ash from the existing power plant is disposed of in the Delta County Landfill. Future ash generation rates are expected to increase. |
